Creating healthy & sustainable places that contribute to the well-being of people and the planet.

About Well-being Design

The intersection where design, science, and technology meet, Well-being Design is a multi-disciplinary practice that focuses on the health and wellness of people and the planet.

Research in the fields of environmental psychology, natural science, and biology informs our recommendations as we consider every element that impacts people's health and happiness: physical, emotional, mental, social, and spiritual. This holistic approach creates nurturing and beautiful environments addressing belonging, inclusion and self-expression while contributing to the big picture of building resilient and thriving communities.

About Environmental Psychology

Environmental psychology is a multidisciplinary social science that examines the relationship between people and their surroundings. It considers how we shape our natural world and built environments – and how those environments shape us in turn. By understanding the elements that positively impact our state of being, we are able to design structures and places that nurture people and improve their quality of life.

Considering that we spend 90% of our time indoors, healthy and well-designed places are as vital to us as nutritious food and exercise.

About Biophilic Design

Bio + Philia = Love of living things. Erich Fromm, a German social psychologist, first introduced the term in his 1973 book, and defined biophilia as “the passionate love of life and of all that is alive.” Biophilic design incorporates elements of nature into built environments in both architectural design and interior design.

About Sustainability and Green Design

As our surroundings impact our health and wellness, our actions impact the health and wellness of our planet. Climate change is an alarming example of how we can impact our environment. Using Green Design and sustainable construction methods, Eco-friendly materials and products, reducing waste and energy consumption, and preserving our resources are great steps in reducing our environmental footprint and contributing to a healthier planet that will support us for many generations to come.

Founder, Designer & Place Maker

I want to co-create places and structures in service of life.

Through deep understanding of the well-being elements of our planet and all its inhabitants, we can begin to imagine the shapes, feel, and essence of the homes, communities, villages and towns that are in support of a truly healthy and vibrant existence.

After working in the construction and design industry since 2005, nora dedicated two years, 2016 & 2017, to research the factors that impact people's health and happiness. Her exploration of the worlds of environmental psychology and biophilic design shifted her practice to Well-being Design in 2017.

As a seeker of knowledge and Truth, nora continues to deepen and expand her knowledge of environmental psychology, permaculture design, and natural building and explore the design, construction methods and materials that contribute to a peaceful and evolved existence within, with others and the natural world.
